析 fond一般表示习惯上的爱好,不指一时的爱好。

事实上,我很喜欢干家务活。

析 fond 是形容词,不是动词,通常要和动词be以及介词of连用,表示“喜欢”“爱”的意思,后面跟名词或动名词等。其中of不能省略。

误 She is much fond of reading poetry of the Tang Dynasty.

正 She is very fond of reading poetry of the Tang Dynasty.

析 表示“很〔非常〕喜欢”时,可用very修饰fond,但不可用much来修饰。

谁也不喜欢被别人耍弄。

误 No one is fond of making fun.

正 No one is fond of being made fun of.

析 “耍弄”英文是make fun of,在本句中它是介词的宾语,又表被动,所以用动名词的被动式。

他不喜欢游泳。

误 He is not fond of swimming.

正 He does not care to swim.

析 表示“不喜欢”,习惯不说not fond of。
